When you need a job – particularly when you need one now – seems like the wrong time to be thinking about “finding yourself”. After all, you have CV’s to send out, cover letters to write, and interviews to attend. And besides, it’s not like there is a well-defined path to follow that leads to personal understanding.
If you’ve ever looked for a job, you’ve heard it all before. Experience required. Even when hiring for so-called “entry-level” positions, experience is often a must. Here’s why it’s frustrating: you need a job to acquire experience, but you need experience in order to get a job! It seems like a never-ending cycle – and one that is particularly difficult to break.
The most common answer to "do you have any questions?" is surprisingly "no". Not only is this the wrong answer, but it’s also a missed opportunity to find out information about the company. It is important for you to ask questions. Not just any questions, but those relating to the job, the company and the industry.
