The Company

Kiwi Lumber is New Zealand privately owned and operated sawmill company with four sites located in Masterton, Dannevirke, Gisborne and Putaruru which specialises in marketing Radiata Pine to the USA, Australia, Europe, Asia and the local New Zealand market. These locations have been selected due to them being situated within proximity to the largest commercial plantings in the North Island. These areas represent the significant commercially grown forests that are serviced and maintained by professional and respectful contractors, harvesters and forest managers that ensure each customer they deal with are given the very best renewable timber resources available in the country.

The Role

Kiwi Lumber in Masterton, Wairarapa is looking for Sawmill Worker's that can assist with their day-to-day sawmill operations and provide a high level of efficiency in the process. The key duties in this role but are not limited to are:

  • Building and stacking packets of timber safely and in a timely manner.
  • Complete all relevant documentation and quality checks.
  • Assisting with the wider team with other duties as required.

Due to the nature and importance of this role it is important to understand that this position has a direct impact on production levels and quality making it paramount to the success of the mill.

Several positions are available as a Sawmill Worker offering daytime shift hours working between 05:00 to 17:00 between Monday and Friday. Along with a strong starting price point there are production bonusses that are paid if your Key Performance Indicator (KPI's) are met.

Skills and Experience

While this role does not require previous experience as full training on the job is and will be provided under the supervision of those in the industry. You must be:

  • Physically fit and able to lift and move heavy wood of all sizes and moisture levels.
  • Self-motivated and be able to think on your feet quickly and smartly.
  • Be a reliable and keen team player that is motivated to work well independently and within a team
  • Ensure work is undertaken in a safe and efficient way to ensure all health and safety, quality standards and production requirements are met.
  • Sound written and numeracy skills are required.
